These Shades Are Amazing + They Didn’t Bust My Budget

If you’re frugal but also fancy good design like me, then this post is for you. Okay, let’s discuss shades. I mean, no one really wants to buy shades, but they’re an integral part of a room’s function and overall aesthetic. But when you have a lot of windows like me, nine to be exact, it can really dent the budget. And since I went the route of expensive previously and they didn’t last, I thought I’d try something different. If you remember, a few weeks back, I did a round-up of the nicest neutral shades for any budget. I am happy to say I found a great option.

A few weeks back, I also explained how much our shades cost and how many of them are broken to the point where I can’t even open and close them. I realize it was eight years ago that they were installed, but I still feel like they should have lasted. Especially when each window costs $500 to replace. I’m not saying all window shades aren’t worth a higher cost. I’m just saying that with 9 windows to dress, I wanted to go a cheaper route and see this time.

Are you ready for the shades I bought? Drumroll, please…

I bought these Cordless Bamboo Roman Shade. The pros- they’re CHEAP (blow your mind cheap), they’re cordless, easy to lift up and pull down, and go with most styles. They are light-filtering, which means they aren’t blackout by any means.

When I say they’re cheap ($50 a window), it doesn’t mean they look cheap. These bamboo shades are very well made. They have a mechanism in the back that allows you to draw them up and down with the touch of your hand.

I saved thousands going this route. I’m not saying they’ll last forever. I’m not expecting them to for the price.

I also made a few more changes to the room recently like this new diamond rug above. I brought in my favorite faux greenery from last year. This fresh eucalyptus looks like the real thing. I’ve bought faux stems many times, and you can tell they’re fake but not these. I also moved back in my Botanicals from Minted 1 and 2, I think this look will stay for Christmas.

I know, at first, I was sure about the rug, but it had two things going for it. The color, I love the brown and the scale. This room is also large, and it plays off the grid batten board well. This is my advice: just try it. You never know if it’s a yes or no until you get it in the room.
