8 Easy DIY Christmas Decoration Ideas
At the beginning of every holiday season, I always wonder how on earth I will top the year before with DIY, decoration, and tree ideas. But somehow, I find a way to come up with a few new Christmas ideas. All while simultaneously wishing I could travel back in time and re-do some of my favorites. Here are 8 easy DIY Christmas decoration ideas that bring back memories of the nostalgic Christmas of yesteryear.
1. Clam Shell Candle—I found this extra-large clam shell at The Home Depot and made it into a pine and eucalyptus-scented candle. I used microwavable soy beads, which was way easier than I thought. If you don’t want to spend the money on the clamshell, you can go to the thrift store or shop your house for a cool, shallow vessel. Below is what you’ll need for this project.
2. Suede Ornaments—You will never guess the key ingredient that gives these ornaments their “suede-like” texture. And I bet you have it in your kitchen cupboard. Okay, okay, it’s Cinnamon.
3. DIY Gilded Candleholders–These are an Anthropologie knockoff from last year. And I made them with craft paper, of all things!
4. Vintage Sweater Ornaments—This is one of those projects I could do again. It’s one of my all-time favorite Christmas DIY ornaments! I used a cookie cutter and clay, but you can also use salt dough. You can paint these or leave them natural.
5. DIY Lotus Bell Ornaments -Okay, this is another favorite from last year. I was trying to DIY my bells and came up with these! They look so pretty as ornaments on the tree and/or tied with ribbon on stockings.
6. Dried Grapefruit Slices—This is an oldie but goodie. The salmon color brightens my soul! Isn’t it yummy? This DIY is way easier and cheaper than you think.
7. Salt Dough Leaf Ornament—For this project, I made a template from Lamb’s Ear leaves. I love that you can see the texture and veining of the leaves.
8. Abstract Ornaments—I had a lot of leftover paint samples, so I decided to make these abstract ornaments. This activity is so soothing and therapeutic, and it’s great to do with little ones. You can’t mess these up, even if you tried!
