Fall Family Room Tour: Earthy Coastal
This year I decided to ditch my typically fall hues and opt for a fresh look with hints of lilac, pink and blue in my family room. The inspiration came from a piece (actually 2) of art I bought off Etsy that I fell head over heals for. It reminded me of a color combination called Earthy Coastal. This palette feels familiar and reflects what I see outside my door this time of year, so I thought it would be fun to change things up a bit as I join in on the Seasons of Home Holiday Series. The biggest thank you to my friend Kristen from Ella Claire Inspired who put this entire series together and who always manages to make everything seem so effortless. Today we are sharing our fall family rooms, so get comfy you are in for a treat.
Lets start with the art, since it was the inspiration for the space, you can find it HERE.
I always get questions about where to begin when designing a room and for me it’s either art, rug or fabric. After the art arrived and was hung it took me a good month + to find textiles that fit in this space.
I finally found them at BOHO Pillows and now I am obsessed. My tip with pillows is buy covers so you can wash them and buy feather pillow inserts. I like the inserts from Pottery Barn, they are a mix and they stay plump longer.
I brought back in my leather chair from my den and it works well as it balances the warm browns and caramels within the room.
I added aged brass sconces above my wall of windows and debated about combining it with the woven pendant. I lived without it for 2 months and guess what, I missed it. So there you have it, it’s called personal style. Not everyone will love what you put together but if you like it, that is all that matters. After all it is your home:).
The coffee table is layered with succulents, candles and books. I grouped them in odd numbers so that it felt unified. Adding many small items can often overwhelm a larger horizontal space. Making smaller groups within that space makes it more cohesive.
This guy, he cant help himself. I tried to send him into the other room so many times but he kept coming back, LOL!!!
If you notice below, there are many levels to my coffee table styling. Varying heights & textures is the key.
You can find my curtain source HERE.
The white walls made a huge difference and I LOVE them! You can find the makeover HERE.
Aren’t these textiles just dreamy?!
One of the many trends this year is simple hand sketches. I did these myself in the frames above the television.
A picture with some doggy belongings I forgot….
Phew, I got it cleaned up in time. I am always forgetting something!
You can find my new sectional HERE. We couldn’t be happier with the decision even though we bought it without every seeing it or sitting in it.
