Natural + Neutral Fall Porch With Cozy Textures
This will be our 6th fall in our house and 6th time decorating my front porch for this festive time of year. It is always a toss up, which direction to go in. Since my personal style always emphasizes texture and lots of it, there wasn’t a better place to begin. The bonus is, fall is a great time of year to highlight texture and natural elements. A big shout out to Kristen from Ella Claire for putting together this amazing holiday decorating series, Seasons of Home. This is our last, fall related post of the season as a group so…(sad face).
Can you guess what was the inspiration for the earthy neutral color palette? Yup, you guessed it, a plaid wool throw I bought last year from Home Goods. You know I love to use pattern as a spring board for color, texture and style direction. I find it makes decorating easy when you find a piece you absolutely love, the rest seems easy after that. You definitely don’t need to go out and buy new things to reinvent a space. Just move them from room to room, this throw was used for my fall patio last year.
I brought in some soft colorful hues with pillows, accessories and natural fall elements. Quick tip, if you are like me and don’t like to plant your mums then try using a basket, just wrap the bottom in a small plastic bag and it will prevent the basket from getting soiled.
Candles are a must this time of year and my favorite place to buy them is Home Goods. Their prices and selection is unbeatable. Where do you shop for candles? I am always curious.
Styling a space wouldn’t feel complete without a few personal items that work with the rustic vibe.
Bringing poufs outdoors, even just for an event or gathering makes for functional extra seating. This knit one adds another layer of texture to the space.
As the sun goes down it’s so pretty to sit out here and watch nature at it’s best.
You can see the cabbage in another small basket next to the sofa and the last of my veggies and herbs from my garden on the coffee table.
I wish you all could experience how peaceful this space is, you can hear the ocean on really rough days, which is pretty amazing!
This is my favorite spot in the mornings and weekend nights, especially in the fall.

I just love everything! The poufs are a good idea, they are comfy and even kids have a ball sitting on them. I would love to get some outdoor furniture for our large front porch…I just don’t know how or where to store it. Any suggestions?
Love you blog, and I think I lost you on my blogroll!

Hi Jane, glad you found me again! Thank you for your kind words! Jen
I love the cozy textures, what a gorgeous porch! I just wish there were a bit more orange hues (but that’s just cause I’m crazy about the color, hehe)
Thanks Kelly!
