Mini Master Makeover {In Less Than 30 Min}
Hi friends! How is your week going? I have a feeling I know what you are going to say, “didn’t you just redo your master bedroom?” Well yes I did but….while BHG Christmas Ideas Magazine was here I needed to do a quick change to my headboard, so I thought I would share a Mini Master Makeover I did in less than 30 min.
What do you think? I actually LOVE it {right now}. I feel like my home is in a constant state of change. I think change is good, especially when its easy. And this is the perfect time of year for an easy refresh of something you already have.
{all sources are listed at the bottom}
So basically I simplified things a little & kept it more neutral with this NEW linen headboard.
This is the easiest DIY update for an upholstered headboard you will EVER do. I found a beautiful linen remnant of 2 1/2 yrds at 50% off and just railroaded the fabric {turned it sideways} and pinned it to the back with quilting pins {they look like a T}. Viola & it took less than 30 minutes. Can you believe it?! It was so quick and it instantly gave me a whole new feel & look.
With that I layered a new coverlet and used a few textured pillows.
And added some simple rustic touches on the nightstands.
Simple, rustic & serene. It is just the change I needed. I am not sure what it is exactly about this time of year that makes me crave simplicity but it feels good. I love the light that pours into this room, it makes me a happy girl!
The nightstands & baskets are both an inexpensive DIY’s I tackled in this room to keep me on budget. Did you happen to catch my bedroom in the Feb issue of BHG?
Neutrals & crisp white bedding, ahhh…
These succulents are about the only plant I can keep alive lately, my poor fig tree:(. I spray painted dollar store vases with Kylon Gold, I loved the round look so I thought why not.
Did you know my boys & I found all of the driftwood on this starburst mirror? Bringing meaning into your home is the absolute best!

For now I think I will keep it this way. Who knows, more than likely come Spring I will want to change it again:).
I fancy my new Driftwood Orb, it works perfectly with my farmhouse chic look.
Tip-NEVER, ever pass up a pretty linen remnant, the possibilities are limitless.

Stay tuned for Part 2 of this mini makeover early next week.
I hope you all have the best weekend!
I like the headboard even better now. Did you ever share how you stenciled the walls? I think I may have missed it, but I’m dying to learn how you did that.
Hi Emily, I have had so many ?’s about the wall, I did a blurp about it but may nee to explain further. I will keep you posted:). I know I like the change too. Have a great day! Jen
The headboard (and the room) look beautiful, Jen!
I love the linen Headboard cover, so pretty!
Very pretty– I especially love your bench at the foot of your bed. Good find! Looks like RH!
Love the simple yet classic update especially the corral throw. I gotta ask where did you buy the bronze clock on the nightstand?
Everything looks beautiful! I love the headboard more now ~ 🙂 I so like having a lot of light inside too ~ changes my mood instantly.
xo
Pat
Yes, it does, thank you Pat;)!
Hey Jen! Love love love the room! Can you give the source for the cream coverlet on the bed? It’s exactly what I’ve been looking for! Thank you!
Oh Jen, I love the changes! We did something similar to our headboard and I couldn’t be more pleased. Now for us it mean taking out a few screws and covering the insert with an old drop cloth but my husband absolutely loves it. How do you like your faux fur rug? I had one for my entire childhood and have missed it dearly. How long have you had it and how is it holding up? The jury is out here because Lily sheds black hair all over the house!!! I love her dearly but there are times!! 🙂 Have a wonderful weekend!
Thank you Peggy! Its amazing how one little change can make you feel like you have redecorated the entire room:). It has held up ok. I love how it feels underfoot. Have a great weekend!! Jen
Beautiful! I like this even better than what was in the magazine! Congratulations on getting into BHG!
Thank you Terri! I like it too!!!
You are amazing!! Thank you for the awsome ideas!! Would you please tell me how you did the wall? Thank you!!!

Oh it looks so good!! So clean and crisp!! Pretty,Pretty!!
Thank you Shawnna!!!
Love this, really looks like it belongs in the room now. Wasn’t a real fan of the pattern before.
I really prefer the new color of he headboard. Looks great! Are you still planning a large barnwood mirror? Anxiously awaiting more projects.
I never leave linen behind when at the thrift store. So many possibilities! And I totally prefer this combination over the orange pattern head board.
Please add me to the list about the wall, just beautiful
AW shucks missed your b/d in BHG. Will have to go find that issue to take a look. I love your bedroom, it’s so serene looking and very stylish, love all that light and those night stands, oh my loving those. At first thought they were attached to wall til I saw more photos, love the casters. Seems I’m caster crazy these days.
Have to say with the stenciled wall love the linen on headboard better, just personal preference. Can’t go wrong with look of linen.
You’ve got one heck of a gorgeous bedroom. Your hubs must be very proud of your style and talents.
Enjoy your Friday and weekend.
ABSOLUTELY PERFECT!!!! I love it! I also ADORE those gorgeous boots! Could you please tell me the brand and/or where to find them!?!
Hello Jen LOVE love your master bedroom! It looks divine:) I Have been searching for the same bench at every Home Goods/TJMAxx near me (Ca) but no luck yet. Could you PLEASE tell me the brand listed on the under side of it? thank you.
Stunning! Personal taste abound, I like the new headboard fabric a lot. Also the orb? Love.
Love all of the little updates! So much fun to refresh for spring!
Hi Jen. I loved the Feb article in BHG. Would you be able to give me the source for the gray bedspread with white “firework” designs? I would really appreciate it.
Love that driftwood orb. Ive been crushing on this one: http://lightingconnection.com/products/driftwood-orb-chandelier
Hey there, I was wondering what the opposite walls look like? I’m working on copying most of this bedroom. I LOVE it!
I noticed in one other picture that you have a desk off to the side. I love it. Can I ask where you bought it?
Liz
Sorry about the late response! I tried to look everywhere (and was unable to find it): Where did you get that adorable little clock with the roman numerals?
Hi there, this room is beautiful, did you ever share the info on the wall?
