Rustic Chic Mini Master Reveal-My Desk Area
Hi friends! First off I just want to say thank you, for all of your support!! Whether you have been with me from the beginning or just began following, I am so grateful. I am a sharing person by nature, so all I wanted with this blog was to share what I know in the hopes I could inspire a few people. To realize that creating a beautiful home doesn’t have to be rushed, that it doesn’t have to cost a fortune and that you can create a meaningful home from doing it yourself. I had only a few visitors a day when I began, really. And to be honest at the time it was enough. This journey has far exceeded my expectations, so thank you from the bottom of my heart for the time you share here with me:).
Last week I shared some simple updates I did to my master bedroom to give it a fresh, uncomplicated feel for winter, click HERE to check it out.
And today I am finally sharing a mini rustic chic reveal of the other side of my master bedroom-the desk area. This of course, still is ALL on a budget.
This space was also featured in the Feb issue of BHG, did you happen see it?
I just love the color palette, the warm weathered woods, the repeated jute & woven textures with the grays & whites and the pop of color{persimmon/coral}.
The driftwood light is from HERE. My dad installed it & thought I was crazy to take down the existing one but I knew it would be perfect in the master bedroom & I was right!
My husband works from home a day or 2 during the week so we needed a quiet space away from the commotion of everyday life. I searched high & low for a desk that would fit the space and work well style wise. This is the Campaign Desk from Cost Plus. I was able to get the look for less by shopping around & comparing prices, a similar home site had this desk for $600 more.
Tip-this desk is easy to move and can be used for extra dining when you are entertaining:).
When we first saw this house I was in awe of its location, I never, ever thought we would be able to own a home so close to the water. We live down a quiet and very peaceful tree lined street with views of the bay & the barrier island that inspire me everyday. My husband loves to SUP{ I am getting there}, kayak and windsurf so it is perfect for him, he can just walk out the front door and go. We both feel very blessed.
In my original design plan I had a large rustic barnwood mirror but after buying the desk I realized this white salvaged wood mirror would be a better fit to balance the color scheme. I found it at a favorite local shop out on the North Fork of Long Island, this was a splurge{sources at the bottom} but so worth it!
I still LOVE my DIY Jute Rope Rods that cost me nothing, the main thing is either screw the eye hooks into a stud or anchor them well. The look isn’t perfect, you may need to tighten them every once in a while but it works in this space since they aren’t functional.

Have a beautiful day!
Such a pretty room and the view is to die for. I love the touch of coral.
Your whole bedroom is a knockout! I just love a room that can incorporate color, clean, vintage, and classic together. Thanks for sharing!
Your room is beautiful Jen. There is so much more here that I’m surprised wasn’t featured in the magazine. The bookshelves and oh my, that Mirror, are great! But my favorite part of the room has got to be the rope ties on the curtains…..so cool!!
Hi Jen, while this is a stunning room I am truly grateful for sharing all the ways you thought outside the box! The rope curtains!? I mean, you just saved my diy behind so much money. lol. I will be trying this out really soon. I do have a question regarding the wall treatment behind your bed. Is it wall paper, contact paper or paint?
I read all about it today in BHG! Lovely, lovely. I have the same desk! It is my husband’s because he runs two monitors for work, I love the big surface space, and the style of that desk! Brilliant use of the rope for rods for the curtains!
Your room looks so pretty!! Great job! I just love the view that is has. I’ve never been to the east coast but would like to visit someday!!
Love the gray everywhere. Now that my hair is graying I look particularly good in gray. I need to buy up everything I need while the gray is available and I’ll be looking great and my surroundings will be a compliment to me also. Well maybe not too much gray or I’ll blend in totally. Really love the room and the desk in front of the windows. It’s all perfect. Do you rent it out by the night? Would love to stay there.
Beautiful! Where did you find the dress form? I am part of a Jewelers Cooperative and we are always looking for great ways to display pieces. This dress form is wonderful!
Your desk area makes me feel like I’m on the set of “Something’s Gotta Give.” It’s soooo good! Gorgeous, Jen!
Thanks Julie!!! I LOVE that movie!!!
Your bedroom looks absolutely gorgeous! I love the Campaign desk, we have it in our dining room / living room / home office. And you are right, it’s pretty easy to move around … I always use for entertaining, like I did for my daughter’s lemonade stand party http://teamotoo.com/lemonadestandparty/
The Wow Factor!!!! Everything is just so beautiful & elegant!! Thank you for sharing! Where did you get your white shaggy rug?
What a great window to sit and work! We have bay windows in my dining room and my breakfast room and I love them. They add character to a home. I am IN LOVE with that mirror. Gorgeous!
