The Full Den Reveal With Pure White Walls

Hi friends! Today is the day, I am finally sharing the full reveal of my den with white walls!! The before and afters will blow you away, it really is amazing what paint can do. If you remember I was back and forth between another dark hue or going light in this room. After much debate and many paint samples later I decided white was best. I wanted the transition between the picture molding and the wall to be seamless. The color I selected was Pure White by Sherwin-Williams and I couldn’t be happier!!! It feels fresh and bright in here, it was just the change I was looking for.

Den Reveal Part 2: Sideboard + Paint

Hi friends, I am happy to share that more progress has been made in the new den! The walls have finally been painted!! I decided to go with a crisp white to highlight the warm woods, organic textures and bold hues in the art and a few accessories. The goal for this room was to create a modern-rustic vibe that felt cool & casual, oh and comfortable too. Last week I revealed part 1, the linen & leather furniture combination from Article and today I am sharing the mid-century modern sideboard that was love at first sight.

Top On Trend Pillows + Tips For Picking The Right Ones

Thank you all so much for the sweetest comments you shared about our new den and furniture. I am in the thick of painting today and so far, it’s looking good. My pillows & my art arrived yesterday and my vision for this room is finally coming together, yay! Pillows & art are a great way to personalize a space, make it feel current and authentic to you & your family. I wanted to take the planning of my den and break it down to offer some advice and/or ideas to you as I go along. Today lets talk pillows.

Linen + Leather: Den Reveal (Part 1)

Today is the day, I am finally revealing my new den! After months of anticipation & decision-making I am happy to say it is almost finished and we couldn’t be happier about the switch up. As I was editing the photos it occurred to me the texture combo was why I loved this space so much, hence linen & leather. I am so thrilled to be partnering with Article on this room. Their mid-century tufted sofa was the jumping off point and inspired the rustic modern mix of textures, styles and accessories.

It seems the decisions for the den are never ending lately. I am not complaining at all because I love all of this but do you ever feel stuck? Like you have been making so many BIG decisions that your brain gets kind of fried? Well, that is how I am feeling right now. I have a bit of a paint dilemma, to go light or dark for the den walls. And I could use your help.

Hamptons Open House-Amagansett Modern Farmhouse

Growing up we spent a good deal of time in the “Hamptons.” We weren’t of wealth or prominence we just liked spending time out there. Of course it was different back then but more or less the same. My aunt & uncle lived in Southampton and we spent a few weeks of the summer with friends in Montauk. And then on those occasions we drove out as a family to walk the quaint streets of East Hampton, Sag Harbor and/or Amagansett to end the evening with a nice dinner. Fast forward a few decades and we are still doing the same thing. Only this time there is a little real-estate stalking involved, haha.

The Easiest DIY Live Edge Bench

My little Jack went to soccer on Saturday and scored 2 goals. He told me he woke up and believed he could & that is how he did it. I wanted to cry, it was such a special moment as a mom. As grown ups we fear things that seem hard or undoable, whatever it may be. Telling ourselves we can do it seems so basic and rudimentary that we often forget to do the very same thing we tell our kids to do.
Everything I create for this blog is all me and at times I doubt if I can do it.  But there is a will there to keep learning & growing so I tell myself I can do it. Yup, I admit it woodworking scares the heck out of me sometimes. I do love a good challenge though, that is why I was thrilled to jump on board with Minwax this fall, to come up with 4 projects geared to inspire your future woodworking endeavors. My first was an easy picture frame for large images, followed by my floating bench and today I am bringing you the easiest DIY live edge bench ever!

The Room Switch Up + Design Plan (Advice Needed)

I have been back and forth on something & thought I would share with you my dilemma in the hopes it brings clarity. There has been a lot of debate as to whether or not to switch up my dining room for a den/study area. I really do LOVE my dining room but it is rarely used. Most of our dinners are spent at our kitchen bar and if we have small gatherings it is spent in the kitchen huddled around the bar. On birthdays and holidays, when we host we do use it but I know I can create other seating areas to compensate.
