Summer Nook + Adding Functional Summer Storage

Hi there friends! I hope you all had a fantastic holiday! It seems as though I blinked and summer was actually here. I am enjoying the lazy mornings out on the porch with my early riser (Jack) and Denver. It is really nice to go at a slower pace and not be in such a rush. We have been spending lots of time at the beach already, which you can probably tell by Instagram feed. My stress level has already gone down and I feel like me again, yay! Whether it’s the beach, the pool or all the summer activities, this season comes with a ton of extra stuff. Beach stuff, camp stuff, pool stuff, sports stuff, it can be a lot to think about and put away. So I decided to create some much needed extra storage under my stairway nook.

Skinny Watermelon-Basil Martini (Under 100 Calories)

Happy summer friends, it’s official!! We have 2 days left of school here on Long Island but they are only half days, so I am already feelin the summer vibe. I am eager to hit the beach, go for a swim, take it all at a slower pace and maybe enjoy a cocktail or 2. This year more than ever I am committed to watching what I put into my body. I realize in my 40’s that what I eat directly impacts how I feel. That means keeping it natural and trying to keep the sugars down as much as possible. So I have come up with a clean and refreshing summer cocktail that is under 100 calories, all natural (besides the vodka) and guilt free, a Skinny Watermelon-Basil Martini.

Favorite Beachy + Boho Ikea Finds

Hi there friends! As most of you know I just finished a makeover for a very deserving homeowner and with that came the fun part of having to scout for styling pieces. I hit almost every home store you can imagine of over the last month, Ikea included. I hadn’t been in a while and they had tons of new items, especially with a beachy-boho vibe so I thought it was only fair to share my favorites:).

An Opportunity Of A Lifetime With BHG + Rebuilding Together

Hi there friends! As promised I wanted to share the exciting news I have been holding onto. It all began a few years ago when my blog became a profession. I was doing what I loved and I was actually getting paid to do it. I felt beyond grateful. I was earning a living and make my house a home in the process. I began to think, wouldn’t it be nice if I could do this for someone else. Someone who maybe had always dreamed of this but didn’t have the resources or means to do it.

Favorite Indigo Area Rugs

Hi there friends! I am in the midst of a pretty big makeover right now, which I will be sharing in more depth in my next post. With this makeover I have spent a good deal of time in design research mode and one thing I found was an abundance of gorgeous indigo area rugs out there. For me indigo has become a rich neutral that works well with any hue. Another reason I love indigo is it has casual & classic vibe that won’t be  a victim of any current trend cycles. An indigo area rug can give a room that pop of color it needs is a very subtle way and can highlight any personal style preference.  I can’t help but think of Diane Keaton’s beach house set in the Hamptons in Something’s Gotta Give, still one of my favorite movies of all time! I have watched it more times than I can count, that house, ahh…

Modern Succulent Centerpiece Planter

Hi there friends! Over the last few years I have become super fond of succulents, who hasn’t right?! I love the look, colors, sizes, shapes and the fact that they are low maintenance is a bonus for me. Plus you can find them just about anywhere lately, even the grocery store! I thought it would be fun to create an all season, modern succulent centerpiece planter for my kitchen table. I have teamed up with Minwax for this project and to give my piece a rustic finish.

Sydney’s Teen Room Reveal With Sherwin-Williams + PB Teen

Today is the day! After much suspense I am finally sharing Sydney’s Teen Room Reveal with Sherwin-Williams and Pottery Barn Teen as a part of National Painting Week!! In my last post I introduced Sydney, shared some before shots and a little peek inside the makeover. In just a few short weeks we transformed a once very boyish space into a girl’s bedroom dream! To be able to create a space for Sydney to enjoy through her teen years brought me such joy, I wouldn’t trade this experience for anything!

How I Saved My Fiddle Leaf Ficus Tree By Doing 6 Simple Things

Happy almost Mother’s Day friends! It has been a running tradition that every year on this special day I ask for a plant(s) from my boys, whether it’s a house plant, herbs for my garden or beautiful perennials for the outside of the house. I love seeing them grow each year, to know they have a story attached to them and to know they will grow for years to come. My mom cherished her plants and even though she has been gone for 20 years my dad still cares for indoor plants, in a small way we still have a piece of her. I think that is why I ask for plants myself.
