An Opportunity Of A Lifetime With BHG + Rebuilding Together

Hi there friends! As promised I wanted to share the exciting news I have been holding onto. It all began a few years ago when my blog became a profession. I was doing what I loved and I was actually getting paid to do it. I felt beyond grateful. I was earning a living and make my house a home in the process. I began to think, wouldn’t it be nice if I could do this for someone else. Someone who maybe had always dreamed of this but didn’t have the resources or means to do it.

Last fall I had an idea of a Deserving Homeowner Makeover and brought it to Better Homes & Gardens. They loved the idea! They reached out to Rebuilding Together, an organization who is a hero to homeowners in need and they said yes, they would love to be involved. If you haven’t heard of this organization, please go to their website and watch one of their videos. It will open your eyes & heart to the struggles homeowners face when they can’t afford basic maintenance on their home. This organization is such a blessing to so many.

Ok, so RT said yes and thus began the search for the homeowner. I began to work with the most wonderful man named Robert( & his amazing team of volunteers) here on Long Island. We have been working on this for almost 2 months and we are in the home stretch. The photo shoot is tomorrow, eek! We still have so much to do but this experience has been one of the most amazing experiences. These volunteers have inspired me day in and day out. I have seen so much kindness and it just keeps going and going and going. So many companies have willingly donated product, resources & time to this as well.

I have been joking with Robert, my partner in crime on this, that this would make for a great “home show” episode because we are so down to the wire, haha! There is still so much to do but I am energized, I am seeing it all come together and all the hard work is paying off. When I say this homeowner is deserving of this makeover, it is an understatement.

This makeover will be in the October issue of BHG, with amazing before & afters, the story of the homeowner and of course the RT team and sponsors that made this possible. There are no words that quite encapsulate the feeling of appreciation and gratitude I have for this experience, it really has been an opportunity of a lifetime.

The photo shoot is Monday, wish me luck:)!

Have a happy day friends!
