The holiday break went by way too fast, didn’t it?! There was so much build up & prepping and then poof, it was over. With the work load of the blog, projects, house tours and activities for the boys before hand, I was REALLY READY for some down time. I was in super speedy mode for weeks before hand, I am sure you were as well. Phew, I panic just thinking about all of it. Being away I realized some things….

I have been blogging for about 5 years now and I still want to pinch myself each and every time I get an opportunity to be a part of something that I could have only imagined in my wildest dreams. To say I am grateful is an understatement. Who would have thought when I began this crazy journey, which I had NO clue what I was doing, that I would one day be writing this article about the Better Homes & Gardens Stylemaker event I attended.
Oh my gosh, it has been a busy week! I shared my fall porch, went into NYC for the BHG Stylemaker Event and …..we got a new puppy!!! I haven’t mentioned this on the blog because it was such a HUGE decision that I honestly didn’t even think would ever come to be. We are slowing getting adjusted to life with him and so far so good, he is a sweetheart!
Happy Friday friends! Lets talk modern farmhouse dining tables. I have bounced around getting a new table since we moved into our house 6 years ago. Back then everyone seemed to have these beautiful rustic farmhouse tables & I was pretty smitten. Then I realized I actually liked my cream table, plus everything I looked at seemed to not be long enough, the right color I was looking for or style. Honestly I think it was my subconscious and my gut saying to be grateful for what you have. I also think I get connected to things and for a person that had a lot of hand me downs growing up, there is a part of me that feels guilty letting something perfectly fine go. Needless to say, it’s time. Here are the top 10 farmhouse table contenders that made the list.
I am off to Haven tomorrow so I thought I would pop in before I left. This is my 2nd year going and I am super excited. For anyone who isn’t familiar with this blogging conference, its focus is DIY and decorating & let me just say this is such an amazing experience if you are a blogger whose focus is that. The nice thing is everyone is in the same genre, so there is so much to talk about, blog goals, techniques, SEO, decorating, DIY but for me the best part are those little conversations I get to have with friends old and new that make me feel connected and a part of something much bigger.
Today is the last day of school for my boys and it feels bittersweet. It has been a great year and although I do know all good things must come to an end, I guess a part of me doesn’t want to fully recognize that they are growing up and getting bigger. It’s all going by too fast. I am trying to hold on so tight to this time together because I want to always remember the pure joy I feel. I have written so often how important it is for me to “be present” because I know from the personal experience of loss that these small moments of time are such a gift.

I have some fun news to share! I will be heading back to Haven this year as a mentor!!! Last year I had the honor of being a part of this incredible event in which I spoke about design & decorating with THIS amazing blogger and friend. To say it was fun, exciting & inspiring doesn’t do it justice. It was so much more than just a conference for me, so to be asked again to be a part of it on this level is both humbling and super exciting.

When I was little I remember going to my Nan & Grandpa’s house and always feeling right at home. My grandmother, lovingly referred to as “Nanny” had impeccable taste all around. She was always dressed to the T and her independent spirit was always way ahead of her time.
