Hi there friends! I know things around here have been quiet this week. I do have a very good & exciting excuse. But first let me catch you up on what’s on the horizon and share this round up of beautiful cage pendant lights I have been meaning to post. As most of you know I shared my new kitchen lights last month in an effort to show you that you can make simple changes to your kitchen that will make a big impact without a full on renovation. Lighting is such an important aspect to any space, especially a kitchen.
A few weeks ago I had the privilege of attending the Better Homes & Gardens Style Maker event in Brooklyn, NY. This was my 4th time attending, I am always grateful for the opportunity and for the recognition of being a Style Maker. This year the event was at Hotel 1, a picturesque location right next to the Brooklyn Bridge. This hotel was A-MAZING!!! It was a great spot to spend the day learning, networking and catching up with friends.
I am soaking up the last few weeks of summer before my boys go back, I hope you are having a great summer as well! I recently made a decision regarding my health that I wanted to share with you. I never, ever thought I would be one to do this but I thought it was worth a try. I decided to go gluten free!!! It’s been almost 2 months now and I feel so much better!
Happy summer friends, it’s official!! We have 2 days left of school here on Long Island but they are only half days, so I am already feelin the summer vibe. I am eager to hit the beach, go for a swim, take it all at a slower pace and maybe enjoy a cocktail or 2. This year more than ever I am committed to watching what I put into my body. I realize in my 40’s that what I eat directly impacts how I feel. That means keeping it natural and trying to keep the sugars down as much as possible. So I have come up with a clean and refreshing summer cocktail that is under 100 calories, all natural (besides the vodka) and guilt free, a Skinny Watermelon-Basil Martini.
Hi there friends! I wanted to share something personal with you today. Growing up I was a shy kid, who was very unsure of my place in the world. I was creative but I don’t remember…
If someone told me ten years ago I would be here today, doing what I love, getting to work with incredible people and being asked to be a part of the most amazing opportunities, I would say to that person you are crazy! Seriously! I just finished a makeover with BHG and Rebuilding Together, which was life changing and such a profound experience in my life and now I get to participate in The Annie Selke Rug Design Challenge hosted by Apartment Therapy!!! Someone please pinch me!
Happy almost Mother’s Day friends! It has been a running tradition that every year on this special day I ask for a plant(s) from my boys, whether it’s a house plant, herbs for my garden or beautiful perennials for the outside of the house. I love seeing them grow each year, to know they have a story attached to them and to know they will grow for years to come. My mom cherished her plants and even though she has been gone for 20 years my dad still cares for indoor plants, in a small way we still have a piece of her. I think that is why I ask for plants myself.
It’s been a crazy week, so much going on with my Sherwin-Williams makeover and also another BIG makeover I am working on with Rebuilding Together. John’s birthday was Thursday and now my boys are off for the week, phew! The last 2 weeks were also a little nuts as I was filming for my Abstract Art Class . You will be really surprised by some of the personal things I open up about and some of the tools I use to create art if you sign up for this class, which I so hope you will.
Anywho….I have been meaning to give an update on our puppy Denver. I have had so many questions from where he sleeps, to his energy level & temperament, to if we are still happy we made the decision. As most of you know John didn’t really want another dog. He liked being able to go away and not worry about doggie care and he also didn’t miss the chaos a dog can sometimes bring to an already hectic family life. But…I pushed for it. I wanted my boys to have this experience. With Murphy it was like they woke up one day and there he was, already in his senior years. They still loved him tons but never had that puppy experience. I am not going to lie, I was nervous being the one who ultimately made the decision on this. So nervous! You hear stories about puppies and how they uproot your life & change the dynamics of the whole house. I needed and hoped so desperately for a good experience with our new little pup. Well….it has been 7 months that we have had him and he is now 9 months old. He is the biggest love and we all adore him so, even John.
Happy Friday friends!! As most of you know, this blog is a place where I share my love for design and DIY projects for the home, but I am looking to expand my range of topics to include simple seasonal recipes. I believe that food, and in particular, enjoying meals together is a big part of what makes a house a home. I want to offer my readers recipes that are easy to make and that inspire creativity…
Happy day friends! It’s open house Friday! Today I am sharing another Hamptons beauty, it is new construction, close to the beach and is in the quaint town of East Hampton, NY. The exterior is quite striking, isn’t it? There are so many details to love in this home, from the farmhouse aesthetic to the clean and modern touches.
Hi there friends! Last week was our mid-winter break and we headed up to Newport, RI for a little R & R. The weather was amazing, it felt like Spring was right around the corner. The sunshine and warm temps definitely brought a happy vibe. It’s a favorite spot for us, summer is fantastic but winter is peaceful and quiet, just my speed. It was the perfect spot to unwind and play for a few days.
This is not your typical design post but I thought it was super important to share. Many of you have no idea but I have been struggling with something concerning my health for about 4 years now. I have had an array of symptoms that could have easily been mistaken for many aliments and I think that is why it has been tough to nail down. If you are chronically tired, weak, dizzy, thirsty, lack focus, have heart palpitations, anxiety then you need to read this!!!
