DIY Glass Pedestal + Holiday Gift Idea
Hello City Farmhouse readers, it’s Brooke from Nesting with Grace! I wanted to pop in to show you one of my favorite DIY projects that I did a few years ago for a friends shower. I needed a little favor for 30 people and wanted it to be part of the decor. I came up with these simple glass pedestals that we put a little cupcake on each. I luckily had a few extra leftover that I use in my everyday décor .
I found petite glass cups without handles and glass plates that would be a good match in scale. Both were at a second hand store for less than a dollar each. These are items that I see all the time at second hand stores. I attached the plate to the upside down cup with Gorilla Glue.
When you apply the glue go around the rim, try not to apply too much glue. It should dry nice and clear and you won’t see the glue when it is dry as long as there isn’t a lot of extra.
It was fun to give these glass pedestals as gifts. All of them were so unique depending on the cup and plate I found. All of my friends were excited to display them in their home and use everyday.
The glass pedestals make great risers to add height to your displays. I used one here on my kitchen table center piece. The glass pedestals look good from all angles, that is important to keep in mind when doing a centerpiece on any table.
We have a small kitchen. I store a lot of my dishes in that gold bookcase. These glass pedestals have helped to add layers and create height. Not only do they look great but they are very useful when we have people over and I want to display desserts. You can see more of our kitchen HERE and Christmas decor HERE. I loved using them in my Christmas decor.
They don’t have to be just a gift. Make some glass pedestals for your bookcase to add height when you run out of books and want a different texture.
I wrapped some oranges and apples on top of the glass pedestal with cello wrap for a healthy Christmas gift. I am going to give these to my daughters teachers with a gift card and to my healthy friends. Tie a little lace around it and it looks extra fancy, know one will ever know that it cost you only a few dollars.
In case you missed any of my holiday tours….
And this one…
