Summer Tour of Homes
Hi friends, thank you all for coming on over today to take my coastal farmhouse tour. A big thank you to Gina from The Shabby Creek Cottage for including me in this amazing group of summer house tours! If you are coming from The Inspired Room , wow right?! Melissa has such a signature style and it is always a treat to see her home.
Living steps from the bay this is a great time of year to decorate and organically infuse all that I love about where I live {Eastern Long Island} into my home. We spend most of our summer days at the beach, so driftwood, seashells and anything else found along the beach are just a few things you will find throughout my home this time of year.
Welcome to my summer home…
This is our family room, our one in all room. Our home was renovated in 2005 and this room was originally 2+ rooms. The room is very large so the white slipcovered sectional placed in front of the fireplace archers the space. If you look closely you can see a sleeping puppy in the mirror, that would be our Wheaten Terrier Murphy who is almost 15 this year. I had originally edited him out but then felt bad so… Even though he can hardly see these days he sits at the top of the stairs and makes his presence known when “anything” goes by, we would like to think he is still our little guard dog:). This year I switched THIS DIY art around and found these amazing color blocked pillows from West Elm which are perfect for that casual coastal look I was going for.
I really don’t go too crazy this time of year, I want my home to feel peaceful and calm, if anything I take things away and try to simplify.
My dining room is still not 100% complete but I thought I would show you a few peeks.
I was a little nervous to go dark because I love light & bright spaces but at the end of the day it’s just paint. I am so glad I took the chance, I love THIS paint color.
I recently tackled my first planked wall all myself, it had a few challenges but for the most part it was pretty easy. It gave me that rustic farmhouse feel I was looking for in the kitchen & now of course I want to do it everywhere. You can see the tutorial HERE.
And to go along with that rustic feel I traded out a vintage cabinet for this open shelving from Arhaus.
This was a vintage TV cart I bought last year for only $5, what a steal! And created a little beverage station in the corner of my kitchen nook.
My master bedroom has that rustic chic thing going on. I love texture, neutral tones & pattern with a pop of color here and there. This space was recently featured in the Feb issue of Better Homes & Gardens, for sure one of those chart topping moments professionally:).
We have a farmhouse front porch that overlooks the water & this is where you will find us throughout most of the summer. Changing this space up for each season is so much fun, because I keep everything neutral I can easily switch out accessories and little details to create a different feel.

Hi Jen, There are so many favorites. I will work backwards. Your quilt on your master bed is gorgeous. Where did you get it? I love your curtain choices. I know the dining room curtains are from West Elm. Where are the family room curtains from. I love the white bar cart you bought for a steal and love how pretty it looks all set up for Summer. I adore the stone around your fire place. And last but not least, I love your sweet Wheton Terrier. They are such great dogs. Thank you. Love your style!

Hi Janet, thank you so much for your sweet words! The bedroom quilt is from Home Goods & my FM curtains I made from cheap linen I picked up. They are sweet dogs! Have a wonderful week, so glad you stopped by! Jen
It all looks so lovely, Jen! x
Jen, your home is beautiful! The colors and neutral tones work very well together! May I ask where you purchased your living room sectional, and the depth dimensions, please?
You have a lovely home Jen, and I always admire people who have so many white surfaces which actually look white! Well done! You also seem to have a view out over water. That must be just wonderful to be able to work looking out over that. I have an ocean and city view from my studio and love that to pieces. 😀
Your home looks so calm and inviting and what a lovely view you have!!! Thanks for sharing.
Hello Jen, Looking through your previous posts, I found the “My Ikea Ektorp 2 Years Later” post! I just wanted to thank you for such a terrific review! I have been trying to decide on IKEA or Pottery Barn (because of the depth and width of the cushions), and your review has really helped! Thank you!
Every square inch is absolute perfection, Jen! It’s all so calming.
Thank you so much Lauren:). Have a nice night! Jen
