Easy DIY Faux Fur Rug & Fa La La Free Printable

Hi Friends!

Can you believe next week is Christmas?

My house is pretty much decorated, how about you?

We spent much of the cold snowy weekend

watching tons of corny & funny holiday movies & loving every minute of it!

{Yes, I am a Hallmark junkie this time of year

& although he will NEVER admit to this, my husband is worse than me, yup, shhh….}.

Today I am sharing a really easy project!!!

Easy & cheap, a good combo especially this time of year:).

So I had planned to buy the Faux Sheep Skin Rug from IKEA  but couldn’t find it anywhere.

I thought, how hard could it be to make one.

A trip to Joanne’s Fabric Store with the boys & $ 10 later….

DIY Faux Fur City Farmhouse

1. I bought 1.25 yds {use coupon} of faux fur

2. Folded in half backside facing up & traced this funky pattern{above}.

Use a pencil & make as many mistakes as you want.

3.Once you have it, then cut through {both sides}.

It will shed, be prepared:).

4. Soak in hot coffee.

5. Ring  & leave outside to dry.

You can  throw  it in dryer for a few minutes to create the fluffy effect.

Just be sure to watch it & check filter.

It love the way it fits in with my Rustic-Glam Holiday Décor.

{I am an animal lover, would never harm or use real fur but love the texture & look

that is why faux is a great alternative}

  1. I was looking at that faux fur few weeks ago. Didn’t really look at price per yd. as I’d almost already used up my craft supplies allowance. The day we get paid it’s really tempting to go crazy buying all the great supplies on sale at 3 different craft stores in Grand Junction. I usually only buy things if I have a good coupon. I’d love to make a little rug like yours for my side of bed. It would be covered with black dog hair but sure would be nice to have it to step out onto. Might even find our dog sleeping on it.
Love shape of your rug, looks like it could have come off an animal. You did great job getting it to look original, a small white polar bear? Did you have any little pieces left after you cut it into shape? Thought it might be cute to make a pillow cover with. I’m an animal lover also.
Enjoy your holiday and have a happy healthy holiday. I’m going to go eat my potato soup, yum.

  2. I also love your button wreath hanging in the empty picture frame. Did you make that? It’s so pretty!

  3. I love the concept and, certainly your finished product, however, I’m confused about the coffee soaking. What is the purpose of that?

  4. Hello. I love your faux DIY sheepskin rug. Really cute! I just spotted a faux sheepskin rug at Ikea.com for $9.99. That’s regular price and not sale price. I thought I would let you know about it in case you want another little cutie that you don’t have to make yourself.

  5. I love your fa la la la print. Can you use any type of printer?
Also I noticed you had another larger la la la print that looked like it may have been in your halllway. Possibly on canvas or wood. Can you share how you made this?

  6. Love the rug. Did you seal the edges? I recovered a stool and the edges shed like crazy.
