5 Tips For Getting The Look For Less {& My Campaign Desk}
Hi friends!
As promised I am finally sharing more of my master bedroom.
I hit the ground running in the beginning of January,
getting so many projects done, crossing things off my list left & right,
working hard in my master bedroom & bath
but …..slowly my momentum faded.
Can anyone relate???
So here we are at the end of February
&
I am finally sharing how I transformed an unused area
in my master bedroom into a functional office space for my husband.
And ALL within BUDGET!!!
Here are my top 5 tips for getting the look for less….
1. Take your time.
I know this sounds simple but it can be really tough.
Trust me I know!
I waited 3 years to tackle this room & the main reason being budget.
You see my husband, who is an awesome guy{!!!} is also an accountant so….
there is ALWAYS a budget,
at sometimes none at all.
As much as I dislike this at times, it has also been a blessing.
This means impatient me has learned through the years to wait,
which is actually a good thing because I become resourceful :).
2. Date Design
Sounds a little silly but before I tackle a room,
I dream, sketch, flip through magazines, browse Pinterest,
I get lost in my own head visualizing what I wish the space to look & feel like.
I date the idea, that way I get to know what I want & what feels right.
3. Get organized
Start a Pinterest Board, click HERE to see mine.
Get a sketch book, folder that can hold images, ideas, color swatches, etc…
4. Always be looking
When I knew what I was looking for, I knew a good deal when I saw it.
Don’t be afraid to look in thrift stores, affordable home stores, craigslist & my favorite,
yard & estate sales.
5. Accessories change everything
As soon as you add your touches and layer with items & accessories you love
your piece will look even better than the original:).
Can you tell which is the BEST bang for your buck?
Drum roll….
the Campaign Desk from Cost Plus-World Market
It is a $750 savings!!!!
Whatcha think???
The before….
I am so in love with this desk!!!
The color is perfect, the style, shape & size,
gotta LOVE Cost Plus-World Market.
Another bonus, when you entertain, you can just remove the back slat & you have a beautiful
table for additional seating!
Finally the sun peeked through for 10 minutes or so to snap a few shots
of our view of the bay:).

Fab! I would love to work by the beautiful window on that great desk!
I stumbled upon your blog around the holidays and was astounded how beautiful of a space you had created. Not only was I deeply inspired (as my boyfriend and I have a similar acclimation to the rustic) but excited about the ideas I could glean from your website. I even sent him the link and he loved so many aspects of your lovely home. So thank you for sharing, inspiring and creating.
Wow, what an incredibly thoughtful comment Georgina!! You really made me so happy! Have a wonderful night, Jen
My gosh, what a view rom the window! I like the less expensive desk better and it has a drawer. It all looks very serene with the soft gray, warm coral and then the dash of turquoise. It’s very nice.
I love EVERYTHING about this space!! Beautiful!!!
Thank you Traci! That means so much coming from you:). Have a wonderful Sunday night, Jen

Can you come to Dallas and help me make our house, a home?! Love your style and everything you’ve created! I’m currently working on our master bedroom and have furniture but need to spiffy up the walls including a big mirror for the dresser.
Thank you Abbey! I have so much more to share in my MB, so please stay tuned:). I will be painting furniture too, love ASCP, covers perfectly:). Good Luck, Jen
Beautiful, and what a great deal on the desk. I love the color of that throw.
I love this color combination. That whole look is awesome, but that throw is outstanding. Looks like cashmere from a distance – do you mind noting the source?
you blog is such an inspiration to me! I am from the country and recently moved to Jersey City. I hope to recreate some of your style sand to make a blog half as amazing as yours! oliviafarnham.com
Jen, It sounds like we work the same way when it comes to design! I found it to be a blessing in disguise this year when I moved into my new (to us) home and my daughter showed up five days later with our 7 month old and 20 month old granddaughters and their dog. Her husband was deployed with the US Army for 2 months, and she just couldn’t stay all alone in Germany with those busy little babies. They have departed, now I am hosting a bridal shower for my daughter-in-law-to-be in New York City and then heading to France for their wedding in September! We decided the purchases and decorating would wait until October and it has been the best decision ever! Time really does let you make better decisions! I look forward to meeting you at Wayfair’s Heart Home Conference! Oh, I bought my husband the same desk two years ago!
wondering where you got the chair?
