Happy Friday friends! Do you ever fall head over heals for something and search for ways to bring it into your home (or life) just because you are so enamored by it? I know instantly when I love something but it can take some time before I actually take the plunge. My mind can be everywhere with decorating, I see so many things I adore on a daily basis, that I have to constantly reign myself in. And decide if it’s something I am loving for the moment, just because it’s on trend or if it truly speaks to my style. Otherwise, I know it will eventually go in the donate pile. Target is the one place I have to have total self control, anyone else with me? I walk in with my list and find myself stalking the home décor isles over and over again. The good thing is, if I find something I usually leave, unless it’s small and will go back if I can’t stop thinking about it. I recently did this with a basket, I kept walking past it, thinking I loved the composition but where would I use it. Of course I left (many times) and just yesterday went back after 2 weeks and bought it. I will come right back to this.
The holiday break went by way too fast, didn’t it?! There was so much build up & prepping and then poof, it was over. With the work load of the blog, projects, house tours and activities for the boys before hand, I was REALLY READY for some down time. I was in super speedy mode for weeks before hand, I am sure you were as well. Phew, I panic just thinking about all of it. Being away I realized some things….
Christmas is almost here, yikes! Are you ready? I am getting there, slowly. We are hosting Christmas Eve & there is still so much to do. I have to say though, I am always happy when it is my turn. I just love having my family celebrate in our home! This is the one holiday we celebrate with my side of the family, my dad is 81 this year and I treasure every moment & holiday I get to spend with him.
Hi there friends! I have some random but fun things to share with you today. If you love a good decorating/DIY book, farmhouse style, pretty wreaths and/or saving on art that is on trend then you will love this post. And if you are still looking for some unique holiday gift ideas then definitely read on:).
We all will be entertaining at some point over this holiday season so I thought it was be fun to share some tablescape ideas to inspire your next feast. We all love the farmhouse feel so I have broken it down into 8 tips for creating a swoon worthy, rustic holiday table that will have your guests singing your praise.
I have been back and forth on something & thought I would share with you my dilemma in the hopes it brings clarity. There has been a lot of debate as to whether or not to switch up my dining room for a den/study area. I really do LOVE my dining room but it is rarely used. Most of our dinners are spent at our kitchen bar and if we have small gatherings it is spent in the kitchen huddled around the bar. On birthdays and holidays, when we host we do use it but I know I can create other seating areas to compensate.
I have been blogging for about 5 years now and I still want to pinch myself each and every time I get an opportunity to be a part of something that I could have only imagined in my wildest dreams. To say I am grateful is an understatement. Who would have thought when I began this crazy journey, which I had NO clue what I was doing, that I would one day be writing this article about the Better Homes & Gardens Stylemaker event I attended.
Happy Friday friends! Lets talk modern farmhouse dining tables. I have bounced around getting a new table since we moved into our house 6 years ago. Back then everyone seemed to have these beautiful rustic farmhouse tables & I was pretty smitten. Then I realized I actually liked my cream table, plus everything I looked at seemed to not be long enough, the right color I was looking for or style. Honestly I think it was my subconscious and my gut saying to be grateful for what you have. I also think I get connected to things and for a person that had a lot of hand me downs growing up, there is a part of me that feels guilty letting something perfectly fine go. Needless to say, it’s time. Here are the top 10 farmhouse table contenders that made the list.
Today is the last day of school for my boys and it feels bittersweet. It has been a great year and although I do know all good things must come to an end, I guess a part of me doesn’t want to fully recognize that they are growing up and getting bigger. It’s all going by too fast. I am trying to hold on so tight to this time together because I want to always remember the pure joy I feel. I have written so often how important it is for me to “be present” because I know from the personal experience of loss that these small moments of time are such a gift.

When I was little I remember going to my Nan & Grandpa’s house and always feeling right at home. My grandmother, lovingly referred to as “Nanny” had impeccable taste all around. She was always dressed to the T and her independent spirit was always way ahead of her time. Her home reflected her boldness for life as it was layered in pieces from their travels, along with an eclectic mix of color & styles. I recently found out that she was actually a DIYer , she was famous for stripping a piece of furniture and making homemade pasta all in one day. This was pretty cool to hear, I often wish I could know her back then, I bet we would have…
