Most Realistic Faux Pumpkins of The Season

Faux pumpkins have come a long way in the last few years, haven’t they? Some of them look so realistic that you can’t even tell if they aren’t the real deal. That makes the quandary of real versus fake even more challenging for me. When I began blogging thirteen years ago, I was all for real, fresh decor, especially around the holidays, but now I mix and match. The convenience of walking to the basement or shed when the season hits is too enticing. Yes, there is more of a cost upfront, but not by much. I’m sure I am breaking some sort of aesthetic law, but when they look this realistic, who cares?

Fall front porch with pumpkins

I still love the experience of going to a farm stand on a crisp autumn day and picking out the prettiest pumpkins to add to my fall front porch. Nothing beats bundling up in a cozy sweater and boots with a cup of something warm in hand and absorbing the colors and textures. It’s the best of both worlds. If you missed last year’s fall tour, you can find it here.

I will say I’ve been able to grow a few of my own from the seeds. I typically throw them in my garden and see what grows the next year, but I think this year I’m actually going to harvest the seeds the “right” way. This year, cheese pumpkins are growing in my humble garden, and I’m hoping to harvest a reasonable amount. Stay tuned!
