DIY Birch Vases & Some Exciting BHG News!
Happy Monday Friends!
The BIGGEST thank you to all of you who gave your support last week
during Better Homes & Gardens Makeover Madness!
Even though I didn’t win,
you ALL made me feel like a winner:).
And the fact that I made it through to the Final Four
&
was able to take the trip to BHG Headquarters
was right up there with the best experiences of my life!
With that being said I have some EXCITING news!!!
On April 16th {Wednesday}
Myself, Jenn, Karrianne & Diane from Makeover Madness
are teaming up with Better Homes & Gardens to bring you
a makeover linky party.
We each will share our tutorials
along with the linky party for all of you to share your projects.
Here is the exciting part-
it will also be featured on BHG’s Style Spotters!
From there each of us will pick our favorites
& share them the following week on April 23.
These 5 chosen makeovers will also be posted to Style Spotters that same day!!!
Isn’t this exciting?!!!!
Be sure to come back on Wednesday to link up:).

Today I am sharing an easy & quick tutorial for
DIY Birch Vases.
These are perfect for Spring & Summer decorating & entertaining.
And plus they are also a great up-cycling project,
which who doesn’t love that:)!
Cute right?
So this is what you will need…
1. Birch Bark
I found mine on Etsy.
2. Twine
3. Tin Cans
4.Glue Gun & Sticks
5. Wood Burning Pen {optional}
I found tin cans that fit the height pretty good.
I then took a birch strip & wrapped it around, gluing at the beginning and end.
Twine adds a rustic touch, so I just wrap & tie.
I usually just eye it & cut off a good length. I like when it looks layered.
I loved this part, it was so fun!!!
First I used a pencil & drew out a heart & initials.
I took my wood burning pen
& with the point bit I traced over it.
Going slowly a few times over. These would be so perfect for the rustic-country outdoor weddings
I have planned for ALL of my nieces:).

Susan
THank you Susan!
You are so talented, I love these. I think I want to make one for my hubby for our Anniversary…. but I don’t have a wood burning pen, where did you get yours?
How exciting about the Better Homes and Gardens Link Party.
Hi Emily! I got mine from Micheals, def use your coupon:). Great idea for the anniversary! Cant wait to see what you link up tomorrow!! Jen
Oh, I am so making these vases. I actually have birch bark that I collected from fallen trees and it’s been waiting for the right project. This is it 🙂
Carol, this sounds like a perfect project for your collection!
I don’t have birch bark but Martha Stewart had a project for fall (few years ago) giving us faux birch bark to print out. If I can’t afford the real stuff I’ll print that out and fake it. Guess my old brain remembers things for a reason. Would love to have real birch bark tho and burn our initials, thanks for the link. Great post as always. I’m really surprised you didn’t win the BHG contest. Love your project.
Thank you for your sweet words! That is a great idea!!!
LOVE those vases! And I think your made over dresser is amazing! Exciting news about the linky party too! Life to the full! Melissa @ DaisyMaeBelle
Thanks Melissa! Be sure to come party with us tomorrow! Jen
