Pressed Fern Art-Easy Fall Project
Today’s post is all about paying homage to foraged style. What better way than to used pressed ferns to make art.
A light bulb went off in my head when I ran through ideas for this project and post. You see I remembered I dried ferns last fall from my garden and pressed them into large coffee table books. Now you don’t need to wait an entire year, maybe a week or two in a cool dry place.
I wanted the backdrop dramatic so I painted wood boards a moody hue. For fall this year it’s not so much about the accessories as it is the color palette. I chose rich greens, eggplant, lilacs and blues to highlight my adoration for autumn. Who says you can’t think outside the box when it comes to decorating for the seasons? Not I!
I’ll share the rest of the room next week for a broader fall tour with SOH:).
After pressing the ferns I carefully took them out and stored them in a safe place away from my boys and dog, hehe! I painted 11″ x 14″ boards from Michael’s Rock Bottom by Sherwin-Williams. Then I sprayed the backs of the ferns with spray adhesive. Super easy and striking. If you would like to seal them you can use a matte sealer.
