The Perfect Accent To My Front Porch
Are you ready for more outdoor living ideas? I am joining a few talented bloggers today for the last week of the Outdoor Extravaganza hosted by my friend Shauna at Satori Design for Living. This week is Paint & Build, so I thought I would share a simple update I did with a clearance item found last year at Lowe’s with paint.
Paint is magic in a can, it can transform, freshen and make an item {or room} stand out. I love decorating with black but finding the right color and texture {I always gravitate towards matte} can be tricky. Last summer I began to search for the perfect black to paint a few items in my outdoor spaces. I took home lots of samples and finally decided on Sherwin-Williams Tricorn.
As I mentioned I found wood planter boxes on clearance last August at Lowe’s, I liked the modern shape and thought the black would really make a great contrast, plus I prefer not to mix too many wood tones in my outdoor spaces. The black really makes it pop. You can see I put my boys to work, they love to paint.
I added a climbing hydrangea to the planter box and brought it onto my front porch. Decorating with black accents make the whites seem more crisp and brings a nice contrast with the wood tones.
A summer porch needs succulents, the thing I love about them is they are low maintenance and like the shade.
This is a DIY sofa made from a crib mattress. Honestly, we have put other things here but it is actually very comfortable and the height gives us a great view of the bay.
The pillows are from Etsy, a great shop called Whitlock & Co. If it’s really humid and raining I do bring them in but most of the summer I leave them out.
Here is a peek of my front porch. I added something really fun this year and will be sharing it next week, stay tuned.
Here are the other projects being shared today, I hope you will hop on over.

You have such a charming and welcoming front porch, Jen. Your planter project turned out great. It’s always nice to find a good deal on decor pieces, isn’t it? The black contrast is perfect!
I love your front porch, I think I would spend all day out there. The pillows and planters look great!

Loved all the ideas. Thx
I can’t set my porch up yet. The pollen invasion won’t be over for a few weeks. Don’t you have it there? Everything is covered in green!
