DIY Gilded Woodland Animal Ornaments

DIY Gold Gilded Woodland Ornaments City Farmhouse

Hi friends!

This Christmas I am decorating my boys playroom again +  I am planning {hoping} to make it magical. So, I have been dreaming up ideas for décor + ornaments that they would find fun and cool.  I thought I would share a really easy DIY that has become one of my all time favorites- Gilded Woodland Animal Ornaments.

Here is the before, they are very cute, I just wanted to add a little glam to them. I bought them at Michael’s Craft Store but you can find them at the toy store as well.

And the after! It really is so simple, I used Kyrlon Metallic Gold {my favorite gold} spray paint. One coat on each side did it.

I pre-drilled small holes on the backs + simply screwed them in. Then tied each with my peacock ribbon. Can you see where this color scheme might be going?

  1. I spray painted a couple of deer toys last year too to add to my decor and this year, I have a black Volkswagon with a tree on the top too! So much fun! I wanted to find an old, toy truck but the “bug” is going to have to work this year!

  2. I just ordered some of the felt ribbon – awesome – I’m going to use it to make some toys for my puppy 🙂

  3. Love this idea! I will be doing this in the coming weeks! And thanks for the ribbon source too, I just checked them out and will definitely be purchasing some of their ribbon and felt balls.

  4. I Love your little deer, so pretty and shiny in their gold. No glitter? I was looking at Target the other day, lots of silver, blue, white, and gold glittered deer, so pretty, bigger sizes than yours. They had glittered trees in same colors. A set of 3 deer and couple different sized trees would be very pretty on a mirrored oval tray which I found at a thrift store recently. Might have to buy some bottle brush trees to spray paint then glitter, save lots of green stuff, bit pricey at Target for our budget anyway.
Found a really cute stubby woodie station wagon at Tractor supply, have got to get those to put in a jar, so darned cute, will be hard to give it up so think I’ll have to make couple of them at least.
Hope can find such cute deer in different sizes, looks as you did at Michaels. I love that felt ribbon, will be buying some of that for sure, love look of felt instead of fabric ribbons.
Have great time making things and enjoy the season, you sure have inspired me.

    1. You could definitely add a little glitter:). I know Target has some great things this year!!! Thank you!!

  5. These ornaments would be perfect for my husband’s woodland themed office! I’m going to be on the lookout for some little plastic animals to spray paint. Thanks so much for the inspiration!

    Pinning and sharing everywhere!

I would love for you to share this project at my Show Me Saturday linky party. We are live now!

  6. Hi there! Did you buy the animals individually or did you buy them in a woodland set from Michael’s?
