Pottery Barn Inspired Round Jute Placemats
Hi sweet friends!
I hope you all had the most splendid Mother’s Day!
My husband & boys treated me so good.
I didn’t want it to end:).
I woke to beautiful handmade gifts, lots of snuggles and coffee in bed.
We looked through old photo albums
& took a much needed walk down memory lane,
it was blissful!
I needed to be reminded of our family, our LOVE, our journey, those imperfect moments that made us better,
those moments that created “OUR” story.
To turn off the outside world for a day
& for it to just be all about us,
again.
Ahh,
I want more days like this!!!!
I LOVE to going to the mail in early spring & getting the Pottery Barn Summer Catalogue!
Don’t you?!!!
It is my favorite one by far,
it feels refreshing to think about summer & entertaining again,
especially after a LONG winter, doesn’t it:)?!
So I thought I would share a really easy project from their latest catalogue
to prepare you for those last minute impromptu summer gatherings,
Pottery Barn Inspired Jute Placemats.
You can find them HERE.
All you need for this project is 3/8″ jute and a hot glue gun.
I used about 34″ feet give or take to make each 13″ across in diameter.
As I went around I pressed firmly before adding glue to the next length of jute.
The rustic texture adds a nice element to the table.
Did you notice my napkin rings?
I also picked those up at the hardware store for just a few dollars.
The contrast works well with the beachy/cottage feel
& what a conversation piece:).
Simple & easy:).
You should be able to make 6 for around $40,
which is a savings of around $80!
Cute right?

Have a beautiful week,
So bright & beautiful! Your tables are always so lovely. Love the placemats!
Love this idea and just might have to try this one. Thanks for sharing and have a great day. 🙂
lovely! How do you finish the end of the rope so it looks nice and neat?
I would be worried it might fray or look messy….
beautiful table setting.
Oh man I love these!
Where did you find your 3/8″ jute? Thanks!
So glad to hear you had a wonderful Mother’s day.
What a clever girl you are, place mats are great. Wonder if there’s any jute without the fuzzies? I suppose if they were sprayed with a clear protective finish it might calm down the fuzzies. I went over to Pottery Barn so I could see place mats, also saw the trays, love them too, I’m a nut for wicker trays. Wonder if one could be made same way just figure out how to build it up for sides. Glad you shared this, you make such awesome stuff, love it. Happy week
Love your chairs! Where did you get them & are comfortable?
How did you finish the ends so cute would love to make them 🙂
Super cute!! Love it!!
What an awesome idea! I may have to try it! Have a great week.
A simple DIY project is my favorite kind of project! These look awesome. Also, I’m in need of some napkin rings. Can you tell me what the rings from the hardware store actually are? Thanks!
Jen, your placemats turned out perfect-love them! 🙂
Susan
Did you mean 3-4 ft of jute for each placemat? And how did you finish the ends? They are wonderful!
What do you do with the end? Did you just leave it exposed after you cut it off?
Love them and all the other details on the table!! Napkins.. lemon on the cutting board.. the herbs.. so fresh and beautifully thought out! xo Jen
Oh thank you Jen for your sweet words!
I am also looking to see what was done with the ends, as many of the reviewers before. None of the pictures show the full end product! Started them, very inspiring, just don’t want to end up with a messy finish! Thanks so much for your help!!!
Hi Laurie, I just wrapped them under with glue very lightly. So glad to hear I inspired you. Have a nice night, Jen
These placemats are so cool, Jen. I think I have to try making some!
Jen, I am finally going to make these cute placemats (starting first with some smaller ones to use as trivets to keep the heat off my table) and I am wondering how you kept the glue from oozing out the side that faces up? Your look awesome and my first attempt looks ok from a distance! LOL
Beautiful! Would you mind sharing your source for those napkins. That are amazing!!!
Hi Jen, Home Goods last year, they are April Cornell:). Hope that helps! Jen
I didn’t see a reply to the questions regarding where to purchase the jute and how to finish the ends. Please help!
Hi Lynette, I bought the jute at the hardware store and finished it by tucking it under & gluing. Hope that helps. Have a nice day! Jen
Hello! Love this! Hope you don’t mind me featuring this in my Potter Barn hack round-up tomorrow on hapinesswherever.com?! 🙂
thank you so much!
Can you wash them?
Hi Paula, you can spot wash but I wouldn’t wash them:). Good Luck!
I love this idea. If I can pull this of to look as pretty as yours, by sisters will be green with envy.
Hi Ivory, oh thank you! Good luck! Jen
