So Much Better With Age-Style House July Guest Feature
Hello! I’m Jamie and I blog over at Better With Age. I’m a stay-at-home mama to two beautiful kids. I love DIY and making my home beautiful for less. I’m completely honored that Jen invited me to share my house tour with her lovely City Farmhouse audience. I’ve long been an admirer of Jen and her blog.
Our home was built in the 80’s. My goal was to makeover every inch of this house until it is unrecognizable from that era. Let’s see if I’ve succeeded in doing so!
This is our foyer. It’s quite large and at first I thought it was a waste of space but it’s really useful for when we throw parties as everyone likes to congregate in here and the kids love running around this table. At least it keeps them occupied!
As you can see, we’ve done a lot of renovations to our house. And by “we” I mean “contractors”. I’m a DIY girl but some things are best kept to the professionals. “We” took that wall down and had built-in shelving made. I just love the transformation.
Most of my finds throughout the house are from Craigslist, Home Sense, antique markets, or curbside. The couch I scored from Craigslist then had reupholstered.
In the kitchen we added glass door fronts to the upper cabinets and painted the cupboards white. We also replaced all the hardware.
Here is the kitchen eating area with our newest light addition.
I had this custom kitchen office added to an empty wall opposite the eating area and one of the closets was turned into a mini butler pantry.
The main floor powder room was gutted of all 80’s decor like linoleum flooring and a tub/shower combo. I opted for a clawfoot tub and checker tile. Goodbye 80’s!
If you follow my blog, you’ll know that my dining room has been a work in process. I still have many projects for this room happening this summer!
My sweet baby girl’s room was a joy to decorate! I think it’s the only time I can paint a room pink without my hubby batting an eye.
Our master bedroom is a work in process as well but I’d like to know whose house isn’t?
Our master ensuite was built from the ground up. If you can believe it, we stole square footage from our master bedroom! Yes, our bedroom is huge!
Another major project we took on was the “crawlspace”. We turned this low-ceiling basement into a playroom/man cave.
Lastly, here is a sneak peek of our mudroom. I’m in the midst of some projects in here as well. It seems like my list of projects is never ending but that’s what makes it fun!
Thanks for following along on this tour today! If you want to keep up to date on my house, you can follow me here.
Hugs,

I think it’s safe to say no one really wants to buy shades. But it’s one of those things that’s unavoidable as a renter or homeowner as they serve two main purposes: as a light…
Welcome to my rustic modern fall dining room tour & tablescape! The biggest thank you to my friend Kristen for putting this Farmhouse Holiday Series together! During the holiday season we will be opening up our homes…
Happy Monday friends!! I am so excited to share this fun, easy & super stylish summer project with you today! Our collection of driftwood has grown each year, as “hunting for treasure” is a favorite summer pastime. No matter how old my boys get they still like the adventure, you honestly never know what you will find washed up ashore. We have found some pretty awesome pieces lately and it got me thinking, what else could we make with them? I love dimensional & sculptural objects, they add a flavor to open shelving & vignettes that no other accessory can. As I began to see some of the driftwood we found together as art, we all agreed these would make beautiful wood sculptures. Plus it’s a great way to hold onto those summer memories for all to appreciate for years to come.
I am back with my last post of 2016, which I collaborated with Minwax!! Remember when I shared with you with my inspiration for my dining room and asked for your advice? Well I am happy to say we are moving forward with the plan of turning our dining room into a den.
A few weeks ago, I shared details of my family room refresh. I asked you all to vote on a wall color and rug. After I bought the paint samples home and tested them in…
Happy day friends! You ALL helped me get to Round 2 of Better Homes & Gardens Makeover Madness, THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart! Today is voting day for round 2! The 4…
