Hamptons Houses That Feel Straight Out Of A Nancy Meyers Movie

Every house tells a story, and it’s my job as a storyteller to peel back the layers and bring you an intriguing house hook that keeps you turning the pages. Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve been fascinated with architecture, crisp cedar shake siding, and the concept of curb appeal. Whether it was the curve of the windows, the roofline, the exterior paint color and shutters, or the colorful window boxes overflowing with blooms that made it Instagrammable. I’m lucky to live on Long Island, where I get the best of the Hamptons and North Fork Architecture. As I plan the setting for my next book, I thought I’d share a few Hamptons houses that feel straight out of a Nancy Meyers movie and are also contenders for the next HMC (House Main Character). And get your VOTE!!!

This house below is on The North Fork and is the setting for THE SUMMER I FOUND YOU, which comes out in April 2026. It’s a Nancy Meyers meets HGTV in a second-chance, found-family beach town romance with a down-on-her-luck female main character, an unruly rescue, and a handy, hunky reality star neighbor. Where interiors come to life, houses feel like characters, and secrets have secrets, oh, and spice.

Okay, on to the houses and inns for my next book. 1. First up, The Pridwin. Of course, I would change the name, but this would be the vibe and the aesthetic. It’s a renovated resort on Shelter Island, New York, with a rich summer history dating back to 1927. A fun little tidbit, it was named after King Author’s shield. I’m thinking Message in a Bottle meets Bridges of Madison County, but the couple is already separated.

2. The crisp, remodeled colonial is steps from the marina and the yacht club, where music plays on weekend evenings all summer long at the bandshell. There is a carefree air in Bellport Village in the summer, and it’s a place out-of-towners flock to. It’s also referred to as the “Un-Hamptons” because it feels like the Hamptons, but it’s not as far from the city. I’m thinking a rockstar legend’s daughter returns to their summer place to spread her mother’s ashes, only to find a grumpy hunk living in her pool house and secrets that alter everything she thought she knew about her family.

3. The gem below is also located in Bellport Village, and I’m thinking it could be a second-chance Christmas book. Imagine all those windows decorated in wreaths? A fun tidbit, I went to preschool here, although it didn’t look like this.

4. This New England stunner is in Westhampton on Dune Road, and tell me that doesn’t look like something from Something’s Gotta Give? I honestly don’t have a story for this one, but I’m sure I could think of a fun age gap scenario, perhaps a Nanny situation.

5. Additionally, in Westhampton, this house is a true classic. This house deserves a wealthy family, a good romance, and lots of twists. It feels like it would be in an Elin Hilderbrand book. Am I right?

6. I could see this Hampton’s stunner below in a house trade for the summer. Maybe the other one is in Scotland? I just had to, since I LOVE Outlander, lol!

7. This one is on Shelter Island, and maybe the FMC returns for the summer to help her grandmother fulfill her final bucket list, only to catch inconvenient feelings for a local oyster farmer who needs to win first place in the Oyster Festival to keep his business going—just an off-the-cuff idea.

8. Lastly, the renovated farmhouse on Shelter Island has secrets in the attic that unlock a century-old mystery. Maybe another grumpy-sunshine romance with the neighbor, just a thought.

So, what house would you choose and what story? You can mix them up; I will not be offended. I appreciate the input!

Have a happy day, Jen
