6 Ways to Use a Plaid Scarf in Your Home

6 Ways to Use a Plaid Scarf in Your Home

Hi friends, the biggest happy Friday to you! I thought I would share a little decorating tip, especially with the holidays around the corner. Plaid is hot right now & it is everywhere, as I walked through Target the other day I noticed they have even put this classic design on trays, mugs and candles. My personal favorite is still any kind of textile because of the coziness it brings to a home. Keeping that in mind, buying plaid throws and pillows can get expensive, so…I have a way to bring these beautifully textured accessories into your home at fractions of the cost.

Plaid Scarf from AEYes, you guessed it, a scarf. I know these can also be expensive so you have to know where to look. I found the best scarves last year for just $5.00 at Charlotte Russe, you cant beat that!!! You can also try H & M and Old Navy. Just be sure they are wide enough, at least 20″.

Here are 6 ways to use a plaid scarf in your home….

1. As a table runner. This is my Thanksgiving table from last year and I got so many compliments, it was even featured over at Country Living. I used 2 scarves for this tablescape, these were the ones I found for $5, so not bad for a total of $10, right?!

2.Wrap the bottom of a Christmas tree. That way you can disguise the hardware the holds it up, this works on real or fake.

3.As a throw. Simple enough, right? When draped over a chair or at the end of your sofa {or a bench}, no one can tell the difference.

4.Make pillows. You can get 2 fronts from 1 scarf, so these I made for less than $3 each, crazy! I used a neutral linen type fabric for the backs that I already had, any solid fabric will do.

5. Wrap faux taxidermy {or real}. I love this look especially at the holidays, it’s just plain fun.

6. Hang a wreath. I saw this a while back in a magazine, maybe BHG and I think it was hung on the front door, adorable!

As you can see, there are lots of ways to use a scarf in the home:). I hope this has inspired you to see some creative ways to use one, good luck!!!

    1. I think that one is from American Eagle/Aerie, right Jen? I have the same one. It’s from last Christmas. I will be putting mine out tomorrow. You and your home, Jenn, was the inspiration behind my Christmas decorating last year. Your home is stunning!

  4. I love that idea! Last year when I could not find red tartan ribbon anywhere, I ended up buying several scarves and using them for runners, etc., and they really do work well. Love all the plaid:-)
