BHG Stylemaker Event in NYC
Hi friends! I hope you are all enjoying autumn and plenty of fun, fall like things with your family & friends! It has been busy around here between blogging and home, so I thought I would fill you in. At the beginning of September I wrapped up a few projects with Lowe’s, my backyard makeover & a holiday collaboration, then went right into my FALL TOUR, phew! Then it was off to the BHG Stylemaker Event in NYC which was such a blast, in between juggling school, soccer, open houses and family get togethers, ALL good things of course! And this weekend I will head to Boston for the Wayfair’s Heart Home Conference which I am really looking forward to {will any of you be there?}. Yup, things are busy but I am so grateful for these opportunities and moments in which I get to grow as a business person {& mom}.
This was my second time attending the BHG Stylemaker Event and each time I am blown away. The editors, staff and all of the creative individuals that are a part of this event are amazing!!! It has been a full year + since I began writing for BHG Style Spotters and almost 2 years since I went out to Des Moines for Makeover Madness and within that time I have had the opportunity to be published and most recently, make a “Behind the Blogger” video, which hopefully will be airing this week. To say I am grateful for my relationship with BHG, is an understatement! My mom always had BHG on our coffee table growing up, I never thought in a million years I would be here today. I know she would be so excited for me:)!

The event this year took place at the Hudson Hotel in NYC, and what a stunning place! You may recognize some of the bloggers enjoying a little morning java.
This is the new Editor in Chief of Better Homes & Gardens, Stephen Orr. He is witty, smart and charismatic, I enjoyed every session with him.
Vera Bradley was a sponsor and we all had a chance to choose a new purse, which was super exciting!
The sessions were incredibly inspiring and I felt invigorated after each one, from Creating a 360 Digital Brand to the Truth Behind a Book Deal!
Here is Kenzie the superstar behind all the social media that goes on at BHG.
Nancy Hopkins, the senior food editor led the food styling session, which was a huge hit.
Matthew Robbins led a session about worthy flower arrangements and photographing them, I so wish I had taken this class!
Eddie Ross the East Coast Editor gave an amazing presentation on setting a holiday table and layering it with pattern and texture. He is always a treat to listen & learn from! He has a new book which I just got, Modern Mix, it’s a beautiful book filled with stunning images, reflection and of course styling tips.
That is me and Jennifer from The Chronicles of Home, loved getting to know her and so many other great girls!!
Then there was evening cocktail party overlooking the Manhattan skyline…
Yes that is Brooke Shields!!! She graced the September issue with her beautiful home and is even more lovely in person!
I will be back soon to share some more exciting news but until then enjoy your Monday & have a beautiful week!
It was definitely one of my highlights to finally meet you in person and to notice that you are just as sweet and gorgeous as I thought you would be.
Oh my gosh Julia, I feel the same way! So glad we finally met, hopefully we can do it again soon! Have a great week, Jen
Hey girl -That looks like so much fun! I am so jealous that y’all got a free purse! ha ,ha
It was fun Shawnna:)! Have a good week, Jen
Looks like it was a good time! I wish I could have been there, but at least I can look at your photos and “sort of” experience it second hand.
Also, I too am very jealous of the free purse, haha 😉
Haha, thank you Emily!
