Coming up with thrifty & pretty ways to decorate my walls is something I am

slightly obsessed with as you all know:).

And my gosh, this is probably one of my best yet!

This entire project, under $10!

Here is the easy step by step to making this fun

DIY Craft Paper & Wood Slat Art….

DIY Wall Art for under $10-City Farmhouse

I adore craft paper {the color, texture and $} & wood {reclaimed or new}.

So I thought they would make a good pair to create something meaningful to adorn my mudroom wall.

For everyone to read something positive when they came in through our door.

DIY Wall Art for under $10-Using Wood Slats & Craft Paper

I took my 2 wood slats each 1.5″ x 40″ and lay them on top my craft paper that

was 30″ x 38″ for weight {not adhered yet}.

You can use anything you choose to give it weight.

I lined a ruler to the edge and tore off at my measurements to get a rough edge.

I had pre-cut letters I bought on clearance at the craft store a while back.

Using a ruler I marked the middle and measured & drew my 3 straight lines for creating my words.

I used a white marker{bought at the craft store} to trace each letter.

I also shaded in each for a different dimension.

I then traced a large circle around my saying and added in boxwood leaves to create a wreath.

I let dry and laid it on a flat surface.

I distressed my wood with some tools to give it some character.

Then I used a vinegar & steel wool solution and lightly using a cloth stained the wood.

I let it dry.

Then I took a watered down BM Revere Pewter and added another layer of stain

with my cloth {unevenly}.

I again, let it dry & sanded.

I flipped my poster over and stapled my slats to the back. DIY Wall Art for under $10-Eye hooks & twine for hanging {City Farmhouse}  I pre -drilled  2 holes at top and added eye hooks.
