Style House August-The Wicker House

Hi my name is Emily and I have a blog called, The Wicker House.
 I’m super excited to be featured today here at City Farmhouse.
I live in Idaho with my husband and 2 little boys, Liam and Jaxon ages 6 and 3, who keep me very busy.  When I do find some extra time I like to decorate my home.
My style is laid back and lived-in. I’m naturally drawn to Coastal, Cottage, and Farmhouse styles. And of course I have a love for Wicker.
 I don’t take decorating too serious, I’ve used bed sheets as shower curtains and twigs as curtain rods. I like to shop yard sales and thrift stores as well as Ikea and Pottery Barn. And I’m constantly changing things around. I think my home is a great reflection of who I am and what my family is all about.

Happy May! Emily here from The Wicker House and I have a cute teacher gift to share with you today. My boys get out of school at the end of the month and I’m blown away because that is just weeks away! Where does the time go? Hello Spring! I couldn’t be more excited to welcome you back into my life! It’s been a long, long winter! I look forward to this blissful season and spicing up my wardrobe with something besides a chunky knit sweater and jeans. Although I am not a big shopper, for some reason I actually enjoy it this time of year. Hi there friends! I am about to hit a blogging milestone in March, 6 years!!! The design lesson that resonates most through this time is, beware of trends. With that being said I have seen a lot of trends come & go and many I was happy to see hit the road. There have been a few though, that stood the test of time, which is refreshing, we call these “evergreen” trends. One in particular that I loved from the very beginning is silhouettes and I am happy to say I still do. We have seen these traditional favorites done many ways through the years, so I thought why not update mine and give them a modern perspective using wood.

Summer Nook + Adding Functional Summer Storage

Hi there friends! I hope you all had a fantastic holiday! It seems as though I blinked and summer was actually here. I am enjoying the lazy mornings out on the porch with my early riser (Jack) and Denver. It is really nice to go at a slower pace and not be in such a rush. We have been spending lots of time at the beach already, which you can probably tell by Instagram feed. My stress level has already gone down and I feel like me again, yay! Whether it’s the beach, the pool or all the summer activities, this season comes with a ton of extra stuff. Beach stuff, camp stuff, pool stuff, sports stuff, it can be a lot to think about and put away. So I decided to create some much needed extra storage under my stairway nook.
