DIY Abstract Art & Modern Coastal Family Room Tour

 Happy day friends!

I have always been drawn to spaces that mix styles,

especially when its modern & rustic {surprise}.

When I think of coastal,

I can visualize this quaint beach house covered in planked walls,

with rustic barn wood elements and modern touches.

Can you see it?

Wouldn’t you just love to come for a long weekend & relax on the beach?

Sounds perfect doesn’t it:)?

Oh my gosh I cant wait for summer!!!

Being that we live coastally & right across from the bay,

it does influence how I decorate.

I like a minimalist look especially in the summer,

so I thought I would create some art above my mantle to incorporate

a modern touch into my coastal{ish} family room.

Sketching & painting was always my first love

& getting back to it felt so good!

This is going to blow you away,

this entire project-under $30.

Yup, you heard right:).

  11. Hi Jen, I love your style and have admired your family room for a long time. As I was going through some of your original posts I disocverd this is actually an ikea couch and I was curious how you still like it. In the pictures it looks as if it’s held up beautifully since your original makeover reveal. Is it still comfortable? I also have young kids and don’t want the hefty price of a pb couch but was always worried that ikea would not be able to handle the wear and tear of children and still feel nice let alone look good lol. Would love to hear your opinion. Thanks!
