And nearly 22% of kids under the age of 18 live in poverty.

Nearly half of all people on food stamps are kids.

And we all know that hunger has a huge impact on how a child performs academically.

My boys will head off to school today having full bellies.

I can’t imagine what a struggle it would be for them if they were  hungry,

  1. What a fantastic cause. My two boys left for school with full bellies too. I can only imagine how hard it is to learn and thrive if you are hungry. I’ll be sure to share! Beautiful picnic images too.

  2. Amazing Jen, and so heartbreaking. I can’t even imagine all those hungry kids. So grateful for what we have!! Your picnic looked so cozy and inviting, I wanted to dive right in the pictures 🙂

  3. FYI – When I tried the purchase cooler link, no coolers were available for purchase. Is there another source?

  4. I wish I could help but at this time we’re fresh out of money. We get paid once a month and have to make it last 5 weeks most of time. The months we have 4 weeks between we try to catch up with what we couldn’t pay in the 5 week months.
I would truly donate if I could. When I was divorced with 3 kids it was very hard for me to keep them fed. I do know how hard it is to feed my kids and it’s horrifying. How do you tell your kids you don’t have money to buy food for them? Sure was easy for me to stay skinny in those days. I did all I could to make extra money to buy food. I will find some way to help this cause.

  5. What a wonderful cause and beautiful setting. I think we’ve all gone through some sort of financial difficulties at one point of time, but to think that you can’t feed your child must be a horrifying thought. Thank you for bringing awareness to this very important need in our society. xo
