Why My New Hanging Chair Is The Best Part Of My Porch Now

Summer Hammock

It’s pretty amazing how one new thing can change the entire feel of a space. My front porch has always been a favorite spot to spend time, especially in the summer and now there is one more reason why no one wants to leave. We actually added something that I have been wanting to do for a while, a hanging chair! I partnered with ATG on this fun little makeover in the corner of my porch and we all couldn’t be happier, it is by far the BEST place to sit in the house. It swings and pivots so you have views of the bay & the comfort, forget it, it is insane. I haven’t sat in a hammock in a long time so I forgot how nice & relaxing it is to sit in.

This corner of my front porch always felt unfinished and I never thought I had the right pieces there. This hanging chair has completely transformed the area and the rug, pouf, plants and garden stool make it feel complete.

Summer Hammock & Palm Tree

I wish you could smell the water and hear the birds, it is so peaceful. I find every excuse to be out here in this chair, early in the morning, before the bus, after the bus and of course at night with the lanterns lit.

The palm, sage and fig tree give it a little bit of privacy and the sounds they make with the breeze is beautiful.

Even though we are on a corner lot it is very quiet down here, the boats, the birds and the occasional landscaper is all you hear.

I have tropicals, herbs {rosemary, basil, oregano, lavender & mint} and fragrant blooms like gardenia out here, they add that something special to the space.

If you have a place to add a hanging hammock I would say go for it! You will love it!

Have a beautiful day!

  1. Love this! We are currently finishing up an outdooring living area at our house so our focus has been on designing that space…well, that means moving the couch from our current front porch, which will now be empty! I am tempted to steal your patio! Question though — do you have plans on how you made the couch? We also have a toddler who just transitioned from her crib so we have a crib matress to repurpose! TIA

    1. Hi Stephanie, I do hope to publish the post, if I do I will let you know, its was super easy:). Have a good night and thank you so much! Jen

  2. That looks incredible comfortable and I love the texture it adds to your pretty space as well.

  3. Our porch is a little smaller but we love hanging out on it! Especially when it starts to get dark or we color during a rain shower. The hanging chair would make a great addition! Just have to find someone to build and make sure it’s sturdy!

  4. I swear this space just keeps getting better and better (which I didn’t even think was possible)!! It’s so calming and inviting! I can just smell and feel that ocean air!

  5. It looks so summery and cosy! I’ve always wanted a hammock but never had the space, hope to change that when we find a new house : )
