The Room Switch Up + Design Plan (Advice Needed)

I have been back and forth on something & thought I would share with you my dilemma in the hopes it brings clarity. There has been a lot of debate as to whether or not to switch up my dining room for a den/study area. I really do LOVE my dining room but it is rarely used. Most of our dinners are spent at our kitchen bar and if we have small gatherings it is spent in the kitchen huddled around the bar. On birthdays and holidays, when we host we do use it but I know I can create other seating areas to compensate.

DIY Table Runner Made With West Elm Carpet Squares

A few weeks ago I shared my Fall Dining Room, which was by far one of the most fun seasonal rooms I have decorated. I had many favorites which made the space feel cozy & layered, perfect for fall. I created a macramé wall hanging, an original watercolor print with vibrant fall hues and made a unique table runner from West Elm carpet square samples I bought for just a few dollars each.

Thank you so much for the warm responses to my Fall Family Room Tour, I really appreciate all of your kind words! Fall has always been my favorite season for the sheer fact that it’s a slower pace & a great time for reflection. After the business of summer it’s nice to get to know myself again, if that makes any sense. There are so many incredible things about autumn that awaken my senses, it is hard not to be inspired.

One idea that has inspired me lately is textile art or macramé. I am a texture nut and nothing says fall like an abundance of cozy textures. I decided to try it and I am so glad I did because not only is it fun but it’s easy.

Modern Farmhouse Dining Tables

Happy Friday friends! Lets talk modern farmhouse dining tables. I have bounced around getting a new table since we moved into our house 6 years ago. Back then everyone seemed to have these beautiful rustic farmhouse tables & I was pretty smitten. Then I realized I actually liked my cream table, plus everything I looked at seemed to not be long enough, the right color I was looking for or style. Honestly I think it was my subconscious and my gut saying to be grateful for what you have. I also think I get connected to things and for a person that had a lot of hand me downs growing up, there is a part of me that feels guilty letting something perfectly fine go. Needless to say, it’s time. Here are the top 10 farmhouse table contenders that made the list.

Chippendale Chairs + A Connection To The Past

When I was little I remember going to my Nan & Grandpa’s house and always feeling right at home. My grandmother, lovingly referred to as “Nanny” had impeccable taste all around. She was always dressed to the T and her independent spirit was always way ahead of her time. Her home reflected her boldness for life as it was layered in pieces from their travels, along with an eclectic mix of color & styles. I recently found out that she was actually a DIYer , she was famous for stripping a piece of furniture and making homemade pasta all in one day. This was pretty cool to hear, I often wish I could know her back then, I bet we would have…
