Modern Wood Slatted Outdoor Privacy Screen: Details On How To Build

Hi there friends! Last summer I shared the reveal on our modern wood slatted outdoor privacy screen. Since then I have had tons of questions about it, so I thought it was time to share some details on how to build it. The screen is contemporary & open and yet still feels private, which is nice because it allows me to see the boys and dog on the other side of the yard, while still maintaining some layer of seclusion. Plus, it has a clean & simple aesthetic which I think compliments my style.

Modern Wood Silhouettes: An Evergreen Trend

Hi there friends! I am about to hit a blogging milestone in March, 6 years!!! The design lesson that resonates most through this time is, beware of trends. With that being said I have seen a lot of trends come & go and many I was happy to see hit the road. There have been a few though, that stood the test of time, which is refreshing, we call these “evergreen” trends. One in particular that I loved from the very beginning is silhouettes and I am happy to say I still do. We have seen these traditional favorites done many ways through the years, so I thought why not update mine and give them a modern perspective using wood.

Driftwood Sculptures: A Great Way To Hold Onto Your Summer Memories

Happy Monday friends!! I am so excited to share this fun, easy & super stylish summer project with you today! Our collection of driftwood has grown each year, as “hunting for treasure” is a favorite summer pastime. No matter how old my boys get they still like the adventure, you honestly never know what you will find washed up ashore. We have found some pretty awesome pieces lately and it got me thinking, what else could we make with them? I love dimensional & sculptural objects, they add a flavor to open shelving & vignettes that no other accessory can. As I began to see some of the driftwood we found together as art, we all agreed these would make beautiful wood sculptures. Plus it’s a great way to hold onto those summer memories for all to appreciate for years to come.

Modern Succulent Centerpiece Planter

Hi there friends! Over the last few years I have become super fond of succulents, who hasn’t right?! I love the look, colors, sizes, shapes and the fact that they are low maintenance is a bonus for me. Plus you can find them just about anywhere lately, even the grocery store! I thought it would be fun to create an all season, modern succulent centerpiece planter for my kitchen table. I have teamed up with Minwax for this project and to give my piece a rustic finish.

West Elm Knock Off Mid-Century Planter + How I Saved Over $100

Hi there friends! If you are one to spot trends then you have probably noticed the wood leg planter around town. I found them for the first time last year at Target and fell in love. I waited for them to go on clearance, then snatched them up. They have a clean, mid-century modern look that is super stylish & chic but can be a bit pricey. I found THESE a few weeks ago at West Elm and knew right away that they were a great look. The mix of wood and cement were a perfect pairing of textures. Once I saw the price I knew a DIY was in order.

Abstract Art For Den + Easy Modern Wood Frame

As many of you know I have had a little paint dilemma going on in my new den. I was back and forth with whether to go light or dark on the walls. I knew once I finished the art piece for the room I would know 100% which direction to go in. Well the art is finished, finally! And the wall color is decided, yay! Today I am revealing the abstract I painted as well as an easy frame that has a modern vibe I made with simple wood trim and a new product from Minwax.
