Early Fall Rustic Glam Porch

Early Fall Rustic Glam Front Porch & Lacefield Outdoor Pillows from Candelabra

It is official, less than one week until my boys head off to school. I am trying not to freak out about this, but it has been the best summer ever!!! My only plan at this point, is to just enjoy the last few, care free days with them. Good plan, right?!

One of my favorite things to do this summer has been to get up early, come out to my front porch, snuggle under a big blanket and drink my coffee while watching the sunrise over the bay. There is just something so peaceful about the mornings & to not be rushed by having a schedule. Don’t get me wrong I like schedules, well sort of but…I will miss these care free mornings, they have been so good for my soul:).

I keep telling myself that change is good, so to get me in a new rhythm I thought I would change up my front porch a bit. Call it an early fall, rustic chic update. The easiest way to transform a space is by pillows and accessories.

I brought in some fallish accessories and repeated some gold accents to add a touch of glam. These bold outdoor pillows are perfect,  I first saw them HERE and fell in love with the designs and hues. I use a lot of regular cotton pillows out here and because of the humidity I have to bring them inside, ALL of the time. I have always wanted outdoor pillows but didn’t want them to look like outdoor pillows, do you know what I mean?

These do not look like outdoor pillows at all, am I right?! They are so well made and the zipper is plastic so it won’t rust, wahoo! These have been outside for the last month or so & still look amazing, no mildew, yay!!!

As you can see my herbs have grown out of control but I love that they are thriving. I am growing all sorts of goodies out here like peppermint, thyme, rosemary, lavender, sage and oregano, which all comes in handy when making drinks, salads, snacks and on the rare occasion these days, dinner {I have been slacking big time:)}.

  1. So pretty, Jen! I’m with you. I’m feeling a bit torn between the changing seasons too. I get sad thinking about the end of summer but then get excited all over again for all of the fall festivities. Change is good for the soul. 🙂 Love all of your bright colors!

  2. Crazy to have school start before Labor Day here on LI. In all the years I taught that only happened once. Still very much summer here and will be even when the kids go back. Some of the most beautiful days are ahead. I have a mix of indoor and outdoor pillows. I wash the regular ones in a mild solution of bleach as the humidity causes mold. The cotton quilts too, though they are just for looks! It hasn’t been cool enough here in Southampton to need them.
Your porch looks lovely! Good school year to your boys! My dil is very busy getting her 5 ready this week. They go to private school, so they wear uniforms, much easier!

  3. Hi Jen,
Such a pretty porch, perfect for the transition. Oh I feel ya on sending the kids back…my son starts next week as well and my little one is starting preschool…sad to see the summer go but for sure ready for that routine again (sort of) All the best to the new school year and enjoying the last few days relaxing with the sunrise.

  4. Hi Jen,
Your front porch is always so beautiful! Thanks to your great design advice, I’ve been able to make my small front porch more cozy. Awhile back you mentioned sharing your tutorial on your DIY sofa. I can’t seem to find it though. I’d love to make one. It would be the perfect final touch.

    1. Hi TRaci, I use oxy clean laundry spray on tough spots mixed with hot water and it usually works with high traffic areas on these too. My indoor carpets I steam but these clean really easy with just the OC:). Have a great weekend! Jen
