Updates From Hurricaine Sandy

Hi everyone,
Happy Halloween!

We are fine,
our home is ok,
aside from some siding
& no electric.

We have been at my sister’s home for
the last few days
&
she never lost her power, crazy as it seems
with the winds that came through.

We feel SO incredibly lucky!!!!
We prepared for the worst,
my husband & I
spent most of Monday morning
bringing everything up from the basement,
then to the second floor.
We thought for sure the bay would come up and flood us.
My neighbors not so lucky,
which is so unfortunate and sad because they just rebuilt
after Irene.

I thought I would share some photos
of my neighborhood.
We live on the south shore of LI, NY
& are on the bay right across from
Dune Rd, in Westhampton.
This is the barrier between us &
the Atlantic Ocean.
Much of this beach as well as much of the coastline
has been destroyed.
These photos were taken Tuesday morning at low tide.

I am so grateful that my home made it through this
but most importantly that we are all safe:).

My heart goes out to all who have been
devastated by this storm
&
thank you so much for the bottom of my heart
for all of your thoughts & prayers:)!

Happy Halloween!
Be Safe!!
-Jen

  2. So glad to read your post and hear that you and your family are safe. And how wonderful that your home did not have major damage. I have been thinking of you!

  3. Glad you are okay. What a terrible storm. What Bay do you live on. My SIL is from the Hamptons and they have a summer home on the bay.

  4. Jen,

I am SO glad to hear your family is safe and your house was spared. Mom and I are also safe, and our house (rental) is fine, but we lost power on Monday at 5pm and don’t have any idea when we might get it back! We also are having a terrible time getting food, gas, medicine, etc. . . Because no one anywhere near us has power either. Trees are down everywhere and there is a lot of damage. I can only get very sporadic cell phone service and this is the first I could get on the Internet via the iPad since the storm. (It is Thurs. morning around 6:18 am).

Anyway, I am glad for you and I hope you will pray for Mom and I that things improve soon. It is getting very cold, and we are running low on supplies.

    Hugs and prayers,
    Maureen Hayes

  5. Very glad to hear you and your home are okay. So sad to hear that your neighbours didn’t fare so well. Life does challenge us but hopefully things will be done quickly to get everyone’s life back to some sort of normalcy.

  6. Thank you all so much for your thoughts & prayers:). It is so sad to see the damage & the people that are suffering. We got lucky, many others did not. Please keep your prayers coming for the area & all who continue to be effected by this. Thank you:)!!!!

  7. That’s Great News, Jen. I have been thinking of you and hoping for the best.
Looks like aside from the damage that was done, you really live a wonderful place. looks like a lovely neighborhood. You might not be feeling that way right now. But all will be restored soon.

  8. Good to know your family is safe and sound and how fortunate that your home was spared! Here in California we feel so far removed, but seeing the pictures is a sad reminder of how much damage was done. Thanks for sharing.
